Pricing Policy

We are committed to providing the highest quality LASEK vision correction for our patients at a price that offers the best value in LASEK in New York City. We are able to do this because we own our own, state-of-the-art VISX laser, the brand that has performed 80% of the millions of LASIKs in the U.S.

One Honest Price

Other laser centers may advertise a fake "$599 special," only to tell you when you get there that the "special" only applies to the 1% of patients with a prescription less than .5D of myopia without any astigmatism. We do not do "bait-and-switch" marketing. Our reasonable value pricing applies to all degrees of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

Other centers may hire a "ghost surgeon" whom you will never meet before or after your LASEK. Dr. Chynn will examine you and perform your LASEK himself.

Why we can offer value pricing

We perform a significant number of LASIKs every week, so we benefit from volume savings. But unlike some other centers, this does not mean we run our practice like a "factory" -- you will meet with and be examined personally by Dr. Chynn before and after your procedure, and Dr. Chynn will personally answer all of your questions thoroughly.

By owning our own laser, we save on the "facility fees" of $1000/patient charged by most hospitals. In addition, unlike TLC (where Dr. Chynn used to work) or other corporate laser "chains," we do not have to pay CEO salaries or shareholders. (TLC was charging $5,500 per patient, but charged Dr. Chynn $2,900 per patient just to shoot the laser!).

How can Dr. Chynn charge so much less now than when he was working for TLC?

Dr. Chynn was one of five "TLC Surgeons" when he was working at TLC Manhattan several years ago. At the time, he charged $5,500 for basic LASEK in both eyes -- the same amount TLC still charges! Since Dr. Chynn opened parkavenuelaser.net, he is able to offer better value.

TLC is a publically traded corporation (TLCV on NASDAQ). As such, it has to pay its CEO, COO, Board of Directors, other executives, managers, employees and shareholders of its stock. In addition, TLC co-manages most of its patients with optometrists (OS's), who take a 20 percent fee.

All of these "fee splits" add up! TLC has to take $2,900 of the $5,500 total (53%) -- leaving only $2,600 for the surgeon. By purchasing his own half-million-dollar laser, Dr. Chynn can charge more efficiently for LASEK, retaining the same amount for the practice -- but giving better value to you!

What is included in your LASEK package

Your value LASEK price includes all preoperative testing, the LASEK procedure itself on our state-of-the-art equipment by Dr. Chynn himself, and the most thorough follow-up schedule anywhere (including post-operative visits after one day, one week, one month, three months, six months, nine months, and one year).

You will also receive a complete post-operative kit.

We strongly encourage you to continue to see us annually for the rest of your life to make sure your eyes remain healthy and to screen for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and other diseases. We will bill your insurance company for these annual visits and accept what they pay as long as you get a referral if required. For patients without insurance, annual exams will cost $200 ($100 less than our regular fee).

Dry eyes

The great majority of LASEK patients have some dry eye symptoms after their surgery, which can be treated with artificial tears and usually resolves after six months. New treatments for dry eyes, including collagen or silicone punctal plugs and punctal cautery, greatly reduce symptoms, promote healing and improve vision by enhancing the quantity and quality of your eye's natural tear film. These important new treatments are offered to every patient and we will accept whatever amount your insurance company pays (we will not "balance-bill" you). Patients without insurance will be offered treatment for $300/eye.

Nearly every patient does better and maintains their excellent vision after LASEK better if treated for dry eyes, so this is strongly recommended. Remember, Dr. Chynn himself has had punctal plugs after LASEK.

Exchange of Goods or Services

If you own your own company, you can receive a discount off your LASEK by bartering necessary goods and certain services (e.g. advertising, printing, marketing, etc.).
